Some neighbors asked us about the system, since they saw our windows and doors protected. Once the shutters were installed we have day light and partial view of the exterior. We were not in a bunker. I was put in touch with his company through AstroGuard corp. Once my information was passed to Omar he called the next day. I set up an appointment with him to come out and give a quote to install the fabric. They were on time for the appointment and gave me a 20 minute notice when they were on their way out. They explained how they were taking measurements and addressed all questions I had. Omar recommended to install aluminum bars on all larger windows of the house including the sliding glass door. This provides the fabric more room to flex on impacts. I have a concrete block home so all windows are inset about 3". Having the bar increases the distance between the window and the fabric. Omar and his team followed the engineering specs from AstroGuard exactly as designed and including the aluminum bars on the larger windows was a plus! From quote to install took about two weeks, this might change depending on the time of the year "Hurricane Season". Fabric was cut at the factory and stamped on all pieces with the Florida building code and other information. Install day went smooth, Orlando Storm Guard uses SideWalk bolts with threaded concrete anchors into the block. They came out, put the clamps on the screens on site, drilled and installed the screens on the house. I was able to label the screens and they labeled the bars for the windows. It took them about six hours for the complete install. After they were done installing, they removed the screens, folded them up, and placed them in storage bags and asked me where I wanted them to place everything. They also patched one spot where the stucco was chipped off and cleaned up afterwords. I can't express how grateful I am to have them do all of this hard work! I feel confident now that we are more protected from hurricane vs plywood.
